The Coloring Party Books Box contains six books: three-book set of the Women of Color and Accomplishment series, Teaching Black History Through Art, and two coloring books.
Each of the series books contains 31 colorful portraits of the women overlooked by history books plus their stories.
Teaching Black History Through Art is about an art exhibit in 2025 that combined the portraits painted by Carol Jacobsen with student colorings of those portraits and student essays about each woman.
These four books are in the Givens Collection of African American Literature at the University of Minnesota.
In addition to the two coloring books, there is a packet of ten cards, 3.5 x 5 .75″. Each card has a portrait and story of one of the women in the books. Also included are ten 8.5 x 11″ line drawings for coloring. Once colored, these line drawings can be mounted for an exhibit.
